If you suspect credit report contains false information, either ID Theft, or “Mixed Credit File”

1- Get a copy of your credit report. Use the FACTA request form

2- Dispute the inaccurate credit information to the credit reports. DO NOT DO THIS OVER THE INTERNET. Keep a copy of your dispute letter. Use the US Mail, and send your letter certified, return receipt requested. The Postal employees can help with the forms. Credit Report Dispute Addresses

3- Fill out, and have Notarized, the Federal Trade Commission Identity Theft Affidavit. FTC ID Theft Affidavit

5- File a police report. Call the local police where you are, and tell them you need to file a police report of Identity theft.

6- Send a copy of the Police report to the Credit Reporting Agencies with a detailed letter explaining why the information is wrong. Once again, keep a copy of the letter, and send the letter by Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested. Credit Report Dispute Addresses

6- You CAN send a copy of the letter to the “creditors” on your credit report, with a copy of the police report and the ID Theft Affidavit, but this is NOT required.

NOTE- YOU WILL SEND 3 SEPARATE AND DIFFERENT LETTERS TO THE CREDIT REPORTING AGENCIES. You will do better with 3 or more dispute letters, each one with different information. If you chose to send a FOURTH round of dispute letters, make the letter as detailed as possible, and include both the ID Theft Affidavit AND the police report.

7- If the information is STILL not fixed, conact us.
