What to do when the collector calls
WHAT TO DO IF YOU ARE THE VICTIM OF ABUSE BY A COLLECTOR
1- REMAIN CALM. They win if you get upset.
2- Tell them that it is inconvenient to talk to them on the phone, and that you can communicate only in writing.
3- Tell them that you dispute the debt, and that you will get back to them with your lawyer’s information.
IF you already have a lawyer (Personal injury, Bankruptcy, Workmen’s Compensation, etc), give the debt collector that information
4- Keep a log (Collection Activity Log) of who called when. Take a picture of the Caller ID, if you can.
5- Contact us, and make an appointment.
